My freelance work, which ranges from writing articles, producing and editing online video and shooting photos, focuses on Mexican travel, culture and political issues. My articles have been published in Mexico City publications such as the English-language magazine Inside Mexico and the English-language Mexico City daily newspaper The News. I recently moved from Mexico City, where I lived for three years, to Austin, Texas.

My work has taken me to nearly ever corner of Mexico, from the ancient island of Mexcaltitan near Puerto Vallarta to the rugged mountains and beautiful missions of the Sierra Gorda; from the pre-hispanic ruins of the Yucatan Peninsula to the indigenous communities of Chiapas; from street food stalls and cutting-edge cuisine in Mexico City to colonial towns in Guanajuato. My travels have taken me to well-known tourist haunts as well as off-the-beaten path gems like Cotija, Michoacan, where farmers produce an internationally renowned cheese and Mennonite villages in Zacatecas.

I've also explored the beauty of Central America including places like the smoke-spewing volcanoes of Nicaragua, the highlands of Guatemala, the unique islands of Nicaragua and the jungle of Belize.

I'm the daughter of Mexican immigrants, and grew up along the Texas/Mexico border, so the customs and traditions of Mexico are ingrained in my life. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a Minor in English Writing and Rhetoric from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. I've been a reporter for several newspapers throughout the U.S. and Mexico.
